Odd how one article says he drinks a gallon of milk a day while the other says no milk. Methods change… maybe he did a “super squat” program at one time.
The science of nutrition was simple in those days, but sometimes not any less confusing. I actually met John Welch at the VFW Barbell Club in Ambridge Pennsylvania. He was quite a lifter as well.
